Jon's able to walk again now!

Please pray for Jon.

My cousin Jon Thomann has been in the hospital the last week. He fell down a flight of concrete stairs and did some major damage to his head that required brain surgery. He has not fully become consious yet, but there are indications that he is becoming more active. This has been a trying time and has been hard on all of us.

Please pray for his recovery. If you would like to know more about his current situation, his girlfriend, parents and brother are keeping us all updated with this website/blog:

Mild Mannered Hospital Insurance Rep by Day, Midnight Moon Runner by Night

This blog is going to be a video blog/image blog/rant and rave blog/artsy blog/not really a blog but may be considered a glob blog blog that will contain a lot of my weird video assembleges, imagery, poems, and other artsy things...

I plan to utilize a lot of public domain stuff in my videos as well as random ramblings that I record on a digital recorder at times, and stuff that I record in digital cameras, webcams, and create in 3d applications like Lightwave, as well as stuff made in other multimedia applications. Essentially, this is my no-holds-barred insane little place on the web. I have several other blogs that are more focused on certain aspects of my art(s) and personality. This one is more of a free-for-all...

I was going to choose Archaic Symphony as the name of this blog, and did, which is why I have that blog name under my profile... I was choosing that name as a potential name since this is really all going to be about the idea of harmonic chaos, the idea that the most absurd ideas can really reveal the truths about something/and or the universe, and that sometimes disharmony can be the greatest form of harmony and unity.

I thought about it, did a google search for that name and found that people are already using it. Don't you hate it when you come up with a name only to find that someone else is already using it somewhere in the world...

so I'm now choosing to use Midnight Moon Runner as the name of this blog.

Where did that weird name come from?
--------------
Back in college I used to like to run at night, and sort of made up this weird superpowered alias for myself back then that I would dream about, and sometimes actually pretend to be named the Midnight Moon Runner.

The Midnight Moon Runner was a super powered crimefighter, who probably more than any other superheroes was most like Casey Jones off of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the Tick without superpowers...

Midnight Moon Runner's didn't really have super powers, but was much like Inspector Gadget, in that he tried to save the world, but was often clumsy about it, and tried to fix the things that didn't need fixing while the real problems around him sort of resolved themselves without his help...

The Midnight Moon Runner would put on a mask that was similar to Zoros, but was made of a cheap cotten cloth material purchased from Wal-Mart that he kept around his eyes... It had holes cut in it to see out of... He would also wear a bandanna around his forehead to keep his caffiene headaches from hurting too bad... the sensations on the temples helped a lot.

His main attire was usually an old shirt with lots of multicolored paint on it, (he had lots of various colored shirts hanging around his apartment or dorm room since by day he was a student studying to be a painter) sometimes he wore various tied-dyed shirts or no shirt, just a belt wrapped around his shoulder and over his chest and back, slung from his right shoulder to his left hip... in which he would hold various potions, tools, or weapons... His pants were usually sweats or spandex type clothing...

His primary "power up" food, much like Popeye's Spinache, was Mountain Dew... and for real "Super Power Ups" he could use Coffee and Yellow Cake with Chocolate Icing in addition to the Mt. Dew. Sometimes he would even drink up to 11 Mountain Dews in one setting, depending on how lacking in sleep he was from the night before when he was up all night in the painting studio or doing classwork....

He often would go out jogging around midnight or so through the empty streets of small city his college was in, and would try to save all the damsels in distress... most of whom were just college and teenage girls who were out partying with their boyfriends... the Midnight Moon Runner would try to save the damsels by offering them a helping hand as he would walk or jog next to them to accompany them to their various homes... Most of the time that freak with the mask on was just laughed at and sometimes was assaulted by the Mean ol boyfriends of the "damsels in distress" that weren't really in distress, and some many of which shouldn't really be called damsels so much as "party girls."

On some occassions, our masked hero would sometimes even get put in to jail for a night as he was escorted away by our local police men in handcuffs... typically for "self protection" reasons. This jail time was meditation time and times when our hero would receive his instructions and assignments. The police (and sometimes God or the gods) would speak to the hero in his jail cell that he would be released from the next morning without any permanent record and give him instructions on how best to take his next actions to save the world...

They would give him instructions on who the next archnemisis would or should be in town, etc.
-------------------
Cut to real world here: No folks, I'm not as insane as this post may seem. I didn't ever really run around town with a mask on, but did make some masks like things and hung them in my closet, and/or sometimes wore them as I worked out in the dorm room gyms late at night... or took jogs around town when doing all night painting studio times, hearing all the "normal" people walking by going to various parties and bars - things that I couldn't do a lot of because I had lots of paintings to work on, studying in other classes to do, and overall lots of stress... The idea for this character/alias/imaginary friend came from a weird mix of caffiene induced hallucinations, oil painting smelled in art studios, and weird thoughts mixed in with role playing and lots of sci-fi channel watching in college... This sort of bizzare hero is sort of the same type of weird, laugh at yourself, yet be totally soberring up and think deep thoughts type of theme that I want to put in to the videos, images, and other things that I'm posting in my vblogs and images here... Some of the images found here will also be found on youtube where I go by the nickname mastermesh... (mastermesh is another alias I made up for myself - that one related to mastering the "mesh" - 3d applications usually have vertices and faces, all of which tied in together is called a mesh.. I wanted to master my meshes... little did I know at the time that mastermesh was the name of a fencing company...)

Some of the stories in this blog or vblog may be based on some of my real world or pretend/imaginary experiences in college and after college and/or may or may not be directly tied to the Midnight Moon Runner ideas/themes, but will probably be sort of related... and/or of the same sort of obscure/slightly delusional, almost Twilight Zone-ish mood and theme-based...

What can I say, I'm a weird kinda guy... One of the best compliments anyone ever game me was in College when Rebecca (sorry can't remember your last name, but you were in to art therapy, even though the last name does not matter anymore since you are now married I think) said that after watching me paint, and be that I reminded her of an "exotic farmer - always looking for the next strangely delighting and rare fruit..." The fruit she was talking about was my paintings, but this sort of description really pleases me. When I was a kid, I always wanted to be a mad scientist, and in many ways, letting my artistic nature out, I sort of turn in to that.... I don't thik I have Asperger's Syndrome, or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), or Alzheimers or anything like that, but letting myself crawl around in the artsy side sometimes gives me some symptoms of each of those mental disorders, so I have to be careful to stay grounded in reality a little... Happy Day to you.
